Rainy day pictures

While the day started out to be a bit of a bummer, it turned out to be rather wonderful. Rainy day? No problem! While we were supposed to chill at the water park with Uncle Joe and Aunt Colleen today for her birthday, we quickly rallied in the cold, rainy weather with a new plan. We hit the indoor pool at the rec center, grabbed a taco lunch, saw Turbo in the super-cool movie theater then played outside once the sun came out. While Sam missed out on the movie, he had a rather wonderful time at the pool and out on the swing set.

Sam did some tummy time with George, then got his first spin in the baby swing.

We think he rather loved it, and Eli did too. Grandma Stormy celebrated her birthday today, and in true grandma fashion she did it with gifts for the kids. Henry and Eli were rather delighted about their toddler-sized umbrellas. Thanks, Grandma! (and happy birthday again!)

Overall, it was a rather wonderful day. Good night, everybody!

Squash!

Is Sam 6 months old? No. Should he even be eating cereal? Not according to the experts. But this kid is hungry and he’s been hungry for months. So a few weeks ago we gave him cereal and he loved it. Tonight I puréed some squash from the farm and decides to give it a try. I daresay he rather enjoyed it.

As for the big boys, they got treated to Dad’s childhood favorite beanie weenies the other night. Henry insisted his were hot dogs – NOT weenies – but otherwise my little hams loved it.

Sam’s rockin’ and rollin’

At daycare pickup tonight, Sam’s teacher excitedly told me that he rolled over for her today. “I’m sure he’s already done it at home for you, right?” she said hopefully. Nope.

Nuts. I missed it.

I saw Henry’s first roll but I am somewhat comforted by the fact that I missed Eli’s first flip, too. He was on his belly, I went to the kitchen, came back moments later, he was on his back. Oh well. While I’m sad to have missed the milestone, I’m thrilled the big guy learned a new trick.

Henry and Eli are becoming increasingly friendly and “helpful” with their little brother. They love to help prop him up when he topples over and enthusiastically bounce his bouncer when he’s fussy. Sam seems to alternate between delighted and terrified when they’re around.

Over the past week we’ve visited with Grandma Stormy and Grandpa Nick, then at the farm we got to hang out with Great Aunt Robin, Mom’s cousin Kristen and her adorable crew, the Brookses, Grandma Marty and Grandpa Mike, and a whole slew of Great Grandma’s side of the family at the annual reunion. Busy week!

Grandma Marty sent us home with a loot of new clothes, including super-cool shirts with a pocket perfect for storing Skittles. Henry quite enjoys Skittles.

Speaking of clothes, we pulled out the 12-month stuff for Sam. Eli wore this romper when he was 15 months. So strange and wonderful to have a big baby.

Good night, everybody!

5 months

The big man turned 5 months old this weekend. He celebrated with an all-you-can-eat steak dinner, chased with a triple-thick chocolate milkshake. Not really. But if he could’ve, we really think he would’ve.
